Methods

There are many different chiropractic methods to use, depending upon a patient’s condition, as well as his or her tolerance of treatment. Some might prefer a more gentle chiropractic technique for pain relief like SOT or Soft Tissue Massage, while others might improve with a more aggressive pain relief method such as Graston Technique or Trigger Point Release to aid in pain relief and pain management. Every chiropractic patient is treated as an individual to meet your needs. Whichever technique is used, it will always be my goal, as your chiropractor, to provide fast and natural pain relief and prevention. A list of chiropractic techniques available is listed below:

Graston Technique® – is an innovative, patented form of instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization that enables clinicians to effectively break down scar tissue and fascial restrictions. The technique utilizes specially designed stainless steel instruments to specifically detect and effectively treat areas exhibiting soft tissue fibrosis or chronic inflammation. Originally developed by athletes, Graston Technique® is an interdisciplinary treatment used by more than 12,500 clinicians worldwide—including physical and occupational therapists, hand therapists, chiropractors, and athletic trainers.

Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation – Stretching technique proven to yield the greatest increase in range of motion.

Sacro Occipital Technique (SOT)  – The Sacro Occipital Technic is a system of chiropractic and chiropractic Craniopathy that integrates art, science and philosophy of optimizing the human innate healing systems. SOT™ Methods utilizes a systemic and systematic approach to removing neurological/structural/functional interferences thereby returning the innate healing capacity to the system.

Spinal Manipulation (Chiropractic adjustment ) – the most common treatment used in chiropractic care. Spinal manipulation is a passive manual maneuver during which a three-joint complex is taken past the normal range of movement, but not so far as to dislocate or damage the joint. Its defining factor is a dynamic thrust, which is a sudden force that causes an audible release and attempts to increase a joint’s range of motion.

Trigger Point Release – Sometimes confused with pressure point massage , this involves deactivating trigger points that may cause local pain or refer pain and other sensations, such as headaches, in other parts of the body. Manual pressure, vibration, injection, or other treatment is applied to these points to relieve myofascial pain.

Taping – Rehabilitative taping has become an important adjunct to soft tissue manipulation and became popular during and after the summer Olympics in Beijing.  Using methods taught by professionals at Kinesio Tape International and Rock Tape, Dr. Brattner leverages the tapes’ properties to  fascilitate the body’s natural healing ability.

Spine exercises and muscle stretching and strengthening programs can also be provided to help prevent re-occurrence of neck pain, back pain and shoulder pain. Workplace ergonomics and Activities of Daily Living will also be reviewed to help prevent re-occurrence of symptoms.
