Kinesiology Taping

Taping to prevent injury and for pain relief has been used by chiropractors, physical therapists and fitness trainers for more than 30 years. During the summer Olympics in Beijing 2008, several medal winning American and foreign athletes were wearing the nude and or colored tape during competition. Many media outlets were giving headline exposure to this contemporary form of treatment.

Taping helps to reduce pain, prevents injury, optimizes performance, promotes and improves circulation and healing and  re-educates the neuro-muscular system. It facilitates the body’s normal healing process while offering support and stability to muscles and joints aiding pain management.  It also looks cool while on the playing field!

Dr. Jason Brattner is a trained Kinesio Tape specialist and also uses Rock Tape in his offices.

Kinesio Taping for Tennis Have You Seen All the Kinesio Taping at Wimbledon?
Ben Swann, writer of the “Educating Stuff” series on the Wimbledon.com blog came up with a pretty good prediction last February. He didn’t know who was going to win what, but “Tennis is tough,” he observed.  “There seemed to be an alarmingly high number of cringe inducing falls and injuries [in 2012], the players will be almost head to toe in Kinesio tape if this continues.”Check out the photos from this year’s Wimbledon competition and you’ll see how right he was. Rafael Nadal may not have been taped during the match, but he was caught on camera not long after with a striking combination of Kinesio Taping – presumably for swelling – and rigid tape on his knee.As of July 2nd it has been the Polish players who are turning heads. Jerzy Janowicz made it into the quarter final with his right arm taped, and Agnieszka Radwanska advanced over Li Na, beige taped thighs versus a black taped knee. Janowicz will face countryman Lukasz Kubot.

Proper Kinesio Taping application is much more than a fashion statement!

Kinesio Taping Featured in Fashion Show
When designer Donatella Versace wanted to signify athleticism in a recent fashion show, she came up with the idea of Kinesio Taping. One reporter at Milan Fashion Week noted that “the models looked like they had just received treatment from an athletic trainer, with their legs, arms, and chests slapped with a rainbow of colors of Kinesio Tape. But it didn’t stop there, some models even had the tape placed all over the garments they were wearing.”The colors and applications were a little sketchy, but it’s nice to be part of the zeitgeist. Perhaps next time they’ll get a CKTP in to tape them correctly!
